MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A person was burned in a cooking fire Monday afternoon in Menasha.
Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue says firefighters were called to 855 Milwaukee St. around 3:45 p.m. They arrived to find the fire had been put out but the home was filled with smoke and the smoke alarm was going off.
Crews also discovered the person had fallen down a set of stairs while trying to remove a burning pan. He was taken to the hospital with burns to his hands, arms and feet, and a cut on his head.
A rug inside the home and the area outside where the victim dropped the pan were burned. There was no structural damage to the building.
Firefighters believe the fire was accidental and are still looking into whether it may have resulted from unattended cooking.
