Milwaukee Brewers
Another western trip started with a loss for the Milwaukee Brewers as the Colorado Rockies tallied a run in their last at bat to beat the Crew 3-2 at Coors Field Tuesday night. Elias Diaz came through with a run scoring single in the bottom of the 8th off reliever Peter Strzlecki for the game winning tally. Diaz also hit one of two solo home runs off starter Freddy Peralta that gave the Rockies an early lead. Ezequiel Tovar took Peralta deep in the third inning and Diaz crushed one to left in the 4th to make it 2-0. Peralta would make it through six innings, working in and out of trouble allowing 7 hits with three walks but he got himself out of jams by striking out 10 Rockies. The Brewers finally reached Colorado starter Ryan Feltner with a game tying rally in the top of the 6th. Christian Yelich led off with a double and came home on a Rowdy Tellez RBI double. He might have reached home sooner if not for a big defensive play at second base robbing Willy Adames of a run scoring hit. William Contreras brought home the game tying run but the Brewers were denied a few more times with stellar Colorado glove work. The loss drops the Brewers to 18-11 on the season. They’ll try to even the series with Eric Lauer taking the mound against Kyle Freeland in game two. Pre-game coverage begins at 7:05 PM with a 7:40 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
