CRIVITZ, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is looking to make a stretch of highway in Marinette County a bit safer, but it wants the public’s input on how to do so.
WisDOT announced Thursday that it would be hosting a public involvement meeting on Feb. 1 to discuss potential changes to a stretch of Highway 141 in the village of Crivitz.
The department says the number of crashes on the stretch from Owl Lane to S. Junction Old Highway 141 has placed the spot on its safety watch list.
During its five-year study period, the spot had 79 crashes — with the study noting that left turns were a contributing factor.
WisDOT is developing potential changes to the roadway, such as reducing the four-lane highway to three lanes with a two-way left turn lane.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to review designs, ask questions and provide feedback to help the department reach a final decision.
The meeting will take place at the Crivitz Village Hall at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
