The commercial nitrogen optimization pilot grant program (NOPP) supports on-farm research projects that use nitrogen in a manner that will sustain soil fertility and crop production while reducing nitrogen loss to the atmosphere, groundwater, and surface water. The goal of NOPP is to encourage agricultural producers to develop innovative approaches to optimize the application of commercial nitrogen for a duration of at least two growing seasons. The application and request for proposals is currently open until January 31, 2023. For more information and to access the application visit the NOPP webpage. Questions regarding project design should be directed to Jerome.clark@wisc.edu. Program questions should be directed to susan.mockert@wisconsin.gov.
