OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — The Oshkosh Police Department is investigating an incident involving a deceased dog. The dog was found in the 300 block of Bowen Street near a business at about 4 p.m. on December 2. Staff from the business found the dog deceased behind the business next to the dumpsters and reported it to police.
Oshkosh Police Department Public Affairs and Crime Prevention Officer, Kate Mann, says they’re investigating the cause of death.
‘There were no major injuries that were visible,” said Mann. “At this time we are not sure what caused the dog to pass away.”
The dog is described as a female dog who is white and black in color and was wearing a red collar. It appears that the dog is between 1- 3 years old and is described as either a Chihuahua or a Rat Terrier mix.
Currently, officers are trying to identify the owner of the dog. The investigation remains ongoing.
