OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Oshkosh is no longer encouraging people to just “visit” the lake city; it’s looking for people to “discover” all it has to offer.
The Oshkosh Convention and Visitors Bureau unveiled its new branding Tuesday, transitioning from “Visit Oshkosh” to “Discover Oshkosh.”
The bureau’s executive director, Amy Albright, tells FOX 11 that the new branding comes from a desire to encourage curiosity and exploration while also balancing the historic downtown with the city’s bright future.
“Just felt that ‘discover’ really encourages people to stay longer — less of a transient visit and get them to really stay here in Oshkosh,” said Albright, “whether they’re residents and they’re discovering their own town or they’re visitors coming to town, we want them to stay and see everything we have here to offer in Oshkosh.”
The logo combines a sunrise/sunset with water waves. It emphasizes the importance of water to the city, falling in line with the branding presentation that described Oshkosh as being surrounded by “968,377,931,464 gallons of joy” with Lake Butte des Morts, Lake Winnebago and the Fox River that runs through the city.
While the bureau says it will have its big launch in spring and summer next year, the new branding will be featured in Oshkosh’s holiday parade Thursday night.
