GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport saw their busiest day since 2008 on November 14, with over 2,300 passengers screened at the main terminal.
“I think the biggest factor in it was the home Packers game against the Dallas Cowboys.” said Airport Director, Marty Piette. “Dallas fans have traditionally come into Green Bay for the games when they’re here, so I think that was the majority of it.”
Piette noted that the airport staff is able to prepare for high volumes of people based on the amount of plane tickets sold in advance. They usually have this information a week beforehand so they can address staffing needs appropriately.
The holiday season is a busy time for airports. If you’re traveling, be sure to get to the airport 90 minutes ahead of your flight so you won’t be in a rush.
