GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A 17-year-old from Grand Chute is in jail following the investigation of a string of stolen vehicles, which included the theft of several guns and thousands of dollars worth of property.
The Grand Chute Police Department says it’s received an increased number of calls during overnight hours related to stolen vehicles and thefts from vehicles.
From Nov. 4 to Nov. 12 alone, the department received reports of four stolen vehicles. In each of those incidents, the vehicles were unlocked with the keys inside.
All four of the stolen vehicles have been recovered.
In addition to the stolen vehicles, the department also received several reports of thefts from vehicles. Thousands of dollars of property, including several guns, were stolen from unlocked vehicles.
Grand Chute police say they receive a search warrant for a home in the 2800 block of W. Glenpark Dr. on Sunday. During this search, two people we arrested and significant evidence was recovered, said police. This included several thousand dollars of stolen property, multiple guns and a stolen vehicle.
A 17-year-old Grand Chute resident is being held in the Outagamie County Jail on related charges, including multiple counts of the following: felony bail jumping, take and operate motor vehicle without owner’s consent, theft of firearms, theft, and concealing stolen property. Police did not say if the other person arrested is still being held in custody.
