KIEL, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – One person was in the hospital after a house fire in Kiel Tuesday afternoon.
The Kiel Fire Department was dispatched to a Linden Street home at 2:06 p.m. The department says the report indicated that three people and some pets may still be inside the house.
Crews found heavy smoke and flames at the back of the home upon arrival.
The only person in the home was able to evacuate before crews arrived. Firefighters searched the home for any other occupants and rescued two pets.
The department says it was able to knock down the fire within 10 minutes. Crews remained on the scene for over two hours, though, in attempts to overhaul and salvage the home.
No responders were injured, but one person was treated for possible smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
