BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) — Residents waited in line outside the Village of Bellevue Community Center on Tuesday to cast their vote in the midterm election.
Voters talked about issues that influence how they fill out their ballot; including senior citizens rights, veteran’s rights, and critical race theory. The recent overturning of Roe V. Wade has many voters concerned about abortion.
“I’m very concerned about abortion issues,” said resident Kim Czaja. “I think we need to protect life at all stages.”
Another voter who came with her, Amanda Killinger, shared another perspective. “Well, this will get awkward now” said Killinger to Czaja in a discussion of the overturning of Roe v. Wade. “There’s too many women who will die because of it, because they’re going to get an abortion anyways.”
Voters across the board care about the importance of democracy. Resident Mark Jeziorny said “In pervious years I’d take my parents who voted opposite of me. But it’s all about making sure everyone gets their voices heard.”
Voting is open until 8 p.m. Tuesday night. Visit myvote.wi.gov for more information; including your polling place and what’s on your ballot.
