PULASKI, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Community members in Pulaski are rallying behind the victims of a bonfire explosion in the Maple Grove over the weekend that injured over 30 people, some seriously. The victims were mostly current and former Pulaski High School students.
The words “Pray for Pulaski” and “Pulaski Strong” can be seen all across Pulaski’s downtown. Two area moms, Amber Ruatti and Dawn Wilinski, are making $20 T-Shirts that read “Pulaski Strong” with red ribbons for burn victims.
“We didn’t expect to get as many as we did,” said Ruatti. “We were thinking like 50, and we’re over 200 in orders.”
“We’re actually doing the Pulaski Pride tree where people donate, so every five dollars someone will get a ticket to get the tree,” said Toni Beltrand.
Beltrand says she also sees the outpouring of support. She has a familiar message on her salon window.
“Have faith and stick together, and we’re a community, and we’ll get through this,” said Beltrand.
Right now, words like “Pray for Pulaski” and “Pulaski Strong” mean even more for the community.
“I think all of us needing to come together right now and being there for the kids,” said Ruatti.
Pulaski residents say they hope when people wear or see the words, they know a whole community is behind them.
Crystal Springs in Seymour is also raising funds for the Pulaski victims.
The golf course posted to Facebook Tuesday, saying they will offer unlimited golf for the rest of the month with a cart for $40, with five dollars of that going to the victims’ families. All money raised will be matched.
