OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Repairs to an Oshkosh bridge are being postponed by at least a month due to materials delays.
Repairs for the Oregon/Jackson Street bridge were scheduled to begin Sept. 26, with parts being delivered for the failed gear box this week. But with delays from the manufacturer and the manufacturer’s distributor, those components are not expected to be delivered until Nov. 11.
The bridge has been closed since May 26, and repairs have already been pushed back on the $136,000 project. Repairs were expected to only last nine weeks when damage to the gearbox was first discovered.
So far, workers have only been able to remove the damaged gearbox. Once the new gears are produced, workers will need to realign shaft bores, install the new parts into the gearbox and reinstall the gearbox in the bridge.
The bridge is now expected to open mid-November.
