GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay is moving forward with its $332,000 plan to keep license plate readers for three more years.
The Green Bay Common Council voted unanimously to approve the police department’s proposal.
“I appreciate the Common Council’s unanimous support for this important crime reduction initiative,” said Chief Chris Davis, Green Bay Police Department. “We believe that we have put together a program that balances community safety with privacy and civil liberties concerns, and which will be a tremendous benefit to our city.”
The $332,000 contract awarded to Flock Group, Inc. includes 40 fixed license plate readers, two quick deploy cameras and annual maintenance.
The contract is funded by a Community Block Grant and the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
If the city chooses to continue the partnership with Flock Group beyond the third year, the ongoing cost would be $106,000 beginning in the fourth year.
