FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A 9-year-old girl from the Township of Eden is being treated at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee after a thousand-pound hay bale fell on her.
Fond du Lac County deputies responded around 2:50 Wednesday afternoon to a call that said a large hay ball had fallen on the girl. A ThedaStar medical helicopter flew the girl to Milwaukee with serious injuries.
Upon further investigation, deputies found that three children were chasing kittens in a barn. Two children climbed onto large hay bales stacked on top of each other while the 9-year-old girl remained on the ground.
The bales then tipped over, trapping the young girl. Two adults on the scene were able to remove her from underneath the hay bale.
The incident is not considered suspicious, and no one else was injured.
