PESHTIGO (WLUK) — The Peshtigo Shooting Range is set to open Wednesday after being closed since last November due to a shortage of volunteers and supervisory staff.
The state Department of Natural Resources announced Monday that the shooting range, located on Hipke Road in Marinette County, will be open to users when a range supervisor can be present.
The DNR is continuing to seek more volunteer supervisors, which would allow for expanded public hours.
Hours are subject to change as staffing changes. The DNR encourages users to check the range status online before visiting.
“Our goal is to expand the hours as more range supervisors can be brought on board. We know this range is appreciated by its users, and our department goal is to have it open as much as possible,” said Bob Nack, DNR Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation Team supervisor.
