GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — There are several active cases of Monkeypox in Brown County.
While health experts say there’s no cause for alarm, they’re still doing what they can to keep the virus under control.
“As soon as suspected case is identified, contact identification and tracing is initiated,” Brown County Health Officer Anna Nick told WTAQ on Thursday.
As of Thursday, two active cases were reported in the county. Nick says they’re looking into who may have had contact with the two patients.
“The contacts will self monitor daily for any signs or symptoms for a period of 21 days,” added Nick.
Unlike with procedures in place in the wake of the COVID, contacts will not have to self-isolate in the wake of exposure.
The virus is not easily transmitted, and only does so through prolonged, direct contact.
