GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The man convicted of fatally stabbing a Green Bay resident 175 times back in March of 2020 was sentenced to life in prison this morning.
Andres Garcia-Saenz won’t be eligible for parole until 2060.
Jurors say he stabbed Douglas Campbell to death at Campbell’s home on Traeger Street.
Before the sentence was issued, Garcia-Saenz discussed difficulties in his life before the crime, and his growing religious beliefs he said that if he could take away the victim’s family’s grieving, he would do so.
Judge Marc Hammer said even after presiding at trial, he does not understand the reason for the “frightening” attack, which made setting a parole eligibility date difficult.
