MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Manitowoc police arrested a 13-year-old boy carrying a handgun Tuesday after an armed robbery.
The department first responded to an armed robbery Monday afternoon at a business in the 700 block of N 11th Street.
Officials say the suspect entered the building, demanded cash and displayed a firearm. After being given the money, the suspect then ran away.
Tuesday morning, the police were called to a different business, located in the 900 block of N Eighth Street, about an attempted burglary.
The suspect was not able to enter the building but did cause damage. He was captured on video and matched the suspect description of the Monday armed robbery.
He returned to the Eighth Street business later Tuesday.
The suspect did the same as the day before, but this time, the victim did not give any cash to him and began to call the police. The boy then ran away.
The Manitowoc Police Department says they found the suspect a block over from the business and took him into custody. Police found a handgun on the teen.
The department says the teen admitted to his involvement in the robberies. Evidence that connected him to the crimes was also located at his home.
Police are recommending charges of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, attempted burglary, carrying a concealed weapon, criminal damage to property and other weapon-related offenses.
Police transported him to the Sheboygan County Juvenile Detention Center.
