KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Kaukauna man won big on Friday with the Mega Millions lottery, though he didn’t win the $1.337 billion jackpot.
While the winning ticket for the record-setting jackpot was sold in Illinois, there were winners across the nation. The billion-dollar jackpot was the third largest jackpot prize in U.S. history.
The Friday drawing resulted in 14,391,740 winning tickets, including 26 winners of at least $1 million.
One Kaukauna man was one of those lucky players, winning $1 million from a ticket he purchased at Lighthouse Corner on Crooks Avenue in Kaukauna.
The winner has not come forward yet to claim their prize, but an owner of Lighthouse Corner said he’s a regular, local customer.
“We are so excited,” said Lighthouse Corner co-owner Evelyn Defatte-Singh. “I was the one who sold him the winning ticket. The winner is a regular, local customer and we’re thrilled for him and his family.”
Wisconsin Lottery retailers who sell a winning ticket over $599 receive a 2% incentive. This means Lighthouse Corner will receive $20,000 for selling the $1 million winning ticket.
