GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The City of Green Bay is the 3rd best place to live in the United States.
That’s according to US News and World Report.
No surprise to Mayor Eric Genrich.
“We’ve got an incredibly safe community, one that has a great quality of life, by and large it’s quite affordable compared to many larger communities in the US,” Genrich told WTAQ. “There’s just a whole host of really great things we’ve got going on right now. A resurgent downtown, a lot of work on our Fox river, hoping to revitalize some former industrial sites.”
Genrich is, of course, refering to the infamous coal piles just south of Green Bay, which officials have secured funding to move within the coming years.
To make the list, a place had to have a good value, be a desirable place to live, strong job market and a high quality of life.
Eric Vanden Heuval with the Greater Green Bay Chamber of Commerce says the ranking is something they’d like to use to help bring people to the area.
“At the end of the day, we have a lot of advantages,” said Vanden Heuval. “I think we need to leverage those a little bit. We need to talk about our community in a way that showcases how special it is.”
Green Bay was ranked number 3. Colorado Springs, Colorado, ranked number 2. Huntsville, Alabama topped the list. Two other areas in Wisconsin made the list. Madison ranked 17th and Milwaukee ranked 75th.
