Less than six months ago, Steve Stricker was wondering if he’d ever make it out of the hospital alive, much less play competitive golf again. The PGA star and victories U.S. Ryder Cup Captain was dealing with rare liver and blood issues that took weeks and a couple of lengthy hospital stays to diagnose and treat, he lost over 25 pounds before recovering.
Back on the course this weekend, Stricker led to wire to wire to win the Regions Tradition, one of the major titles on the PGA Champions Tour. He finished at 21 under par to beat his European rival Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington by six strokes. It’s Stricker’s 4th major title on the Champions Tour.
