It was a home run derby at American Family Field on Thursday afternoon as the Milwaukee Brewers clubbed six more long balls in a 10-5 victory that completed a three game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds. Willy Adames hit a pair, giving him a robust 7 home runs and 17 runs batted in over his last 10 games. Christian Yelich, Keston Hiura, Luis Urias and Tyrone Taylor also left the yard as Milwaukee continued to feast on Cincinnati pitching, scoring 28 runs in the last two games alone.
Adrian Houser allowed three runs in the first inning but Adames and Yelich homers got Milwaukee even after one and it was all Brewers from there. Houser picked up the victory getting through five innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. In the six game homestand, Milwaukee clobbered a club record 20 home runs. The Reds head home at 3-22, just the fifth team in major league history to start a season with 22 losses in their first 25 games.
The Brewers are now 18-8 on the year, remaining two and a half games in front of St. Louis in the NL Central race. Milwaukee hits the road for a 9 game, 10 day trip that starts in Atlanta.
