GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Just months after the United Way of Brown County received their largest grant in history, the record has been broken again.
The United Way has received $1 million worth of appropriation from the federal government as part of the bipartisan omnibus bill in order to fund a community house designed to help residents on Green Bay’s near-east side. The four neighborhoods targeted are Whitney Park, Navarino, Downtown, and Joannes Park.
United Way of Brown County CEO Robyn Davis says the final location will determine what sort of services are provided.
“Whether it’s health, economic support, education, early childhood, social connectedness, employment security,” Davis listed off to WTAQ. “Our strategy is to create a central place for residents to gather to support and learn from each other and have access to streamlined services.”
Davis says the house will either be purchased and renovated or built new.
The project was announced Wednesday afternoon with Senator Tammy Baldwin in attendence. Davis says Baldwin was a lead advocate for the funds.
