FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A four-year-old is the youngest citizen among several Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue is recognizing for their good deeds this past year.
On Friday, the department held its annual awards ceremony.
The child was awarded for quickly alerting his mother to a house fire.
“I came from working in the morning like my normal routine getting him ready for the day, getting his breakfast ready quick, and he said, ‘Mommy, Mommy, fire!’ And I came outside the house and could see smoke all over. I was kind of confused and then called 911. So if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t be sitting here today,” said Korlub Korlu, the boy’s mother.
Fond Du Lac Fire Chief, Peter O’Leary, says recognizing the good people are what’s best about their community.
