GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — There’s been an increase in interest in becoming a poll watcher for Tuesday’s election.
Sandy Juno is a retired County Clerk who now organizes election observers for the Brown County Republican Party and says she has an idea as to why.
“I think because of the issues that Green Bay has had in the past two years, there’s more interest overall,” Juno told WTAQ.
She says she’s had no problem getting volunteers. They look over the election process and report anything they’re concerned is unusual.
“We have over 70 observers, and 62 of the 70 will be located at polling locations in the city of Green Bay,” said Juno. “If there is something that seems unusual, what they’ll be doing is contacting me or someone else to see if what they’re seeing is normal or a cause for concern.”
Both major parties typically send poll observers.
The last three elections in Green Bay had issues that raised eyebrows, from clerk staff counting ballots ahead of the posted time in February, to long lines in the Spring of 2020 and consultants from outside firms getting access to the central ballot count in November in 2020.
