MADISON, Wis.–Four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schools are ranked in the top 20 of the 2021-22 Learfield Directors’ Cup NCAA Division III standings following the completion of the winter sports season.
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire leads the conference entries in the standings, ranking seventh with 527.50 points, while UW-La Crosse is ninth with 510.50, UW-Whitewater 16th with 447.75 and UW-Oshkosh 20th with 416.75.
Johns Hopkins University (Md.) tops the standings with 855.50 points, while Tufts University (Mass.) is second with 632, University of Chicago (Ill.) third with 616.50, Washington University-St. Louis (Mo.) fourth with 603 and Middlebury University (Vt.) fifth with 561.50.
Additional WIAC schools in the standings include: UW-Platteville 75th with 143.50 points; UW-Stout 85th with 128.75; UW-Stevens Point 99th with 112; and UW-River Falls 117th with 96.50.
During the 2021-22 academic year, the conference has captured two NCAA Division III championships. UW-Eau Claire finished first in women’s volleyball and men’s indoor track & field. UW-Oshkosh also won the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association title.
The standings recognize the best NCAA Division III overall athletics programs in the country. A total of 270 institutions are represented in the winter standings.
The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in NCAA Championships.
