APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The United Way of the Fox Cities celebrated another successful community campaign in 2021.
The organization raised more than $8.5 million to help families shelter from homelessness and abuse, find counseling services, help children find the care they need – and much more.
“Really for the size of community we are, that is a very successful campaign. We have a lot of generous people who contribute to that, so thank you to everybody who has,” said Vice President of Resource Development, Josh Kilgas. “It can improve the lives of people in our community from early childhood, all the way through somebody’s life. We’re at every step of the way, supporting people, and helping them to be self sufficient get through troubled times in their lives.”
Kilgas says the donations impact the lives of 1 in 3 people across the cities every year.
“It’s really the community is coming together to improve those lives. We use research that we’re doing on a regular basis to directly affect those one in 3 people in our fox cities on an annual basis,” Kilgas said.
As for the celebration event itself – he says the goal is to honor those who help the campaign throughout the year.
“We really just want to take that time to thank the people who made that happen, and people who volunteer for campaigns to help raise the money,” Kilgas said.
