SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Keep your eyes out for some jack-o-lanterns at the NEW Zoo!
The annual pumpkin carving event took place Wednesday at the Pines Shelter.
People came and brought their own pumpkins to carve. Participants were able to carve inside the shelter or at tables stationed outside.
The zoo limited the number of people who could come at once to maintain social distancing. However, they say the restrictions didn’t stop people who came out.
“I just had a family come in and say that this is their 10th year doing it, so it is a tradition for a lot of people,” volunteer coordinator Angela Kawski said.
“They really enjoy coming to this. How fun is it to carve pumpkins and then not have to clean up the mess at your own home, you know? You get to do it here and know you’re helping out the zoo as well.”
Pumpkins carved during the event will be used to decorate for the North Shore Bank Zoo Boo 2021.
