MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — There have now been over 8,000 COVID-19 deaths in Wisconsin.
The state surpassed that grim milestone Friday.
The Department of Health Services put the toll at 8,009. There were 11 deaths reported Thursday, with the seven-day average at 15.
New cases were also on the upswing, with 3,371 reported on Thursday. That was the most since Sept. 20, and it increased the seven-day average to 2,506.
The all-time number of cases rose to 730,379.
As of Friday, 56.7% of Wisconsin residents had received at least one dose of vaccine and 53.8% had completed their vaccine series.
