WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office says one man was killed and another person injured in a head-on crash in Winnebago County early Sunday morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched to a report of a serious crash around 3:00 a.m. on State Hwy 91 near Wall St in the Town of Nepeskun.
A passersby said that two vehicles were involved and that it was a severe crash.
Preliminary information about the crash says that a black BMW driven by a 24-year-old man from Berlin was traveling west bound on State Hwy 91 and the second vehicle, a maroon Ford Fusion, was driven by a 57-year-old male from Berlin, and was traveling east bound.
The vehicles crashed head on.
The 57-year-old man was severely injured and died at the scene of the crash.
The 24-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
The Winnebago County Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene for further investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The roadway was closed for approximately 7 hours.
No further information will be released today.
