Kocken, 28, is charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and other counts for the Aug. 6 confrontation with Officer Nicole Blaskowski.
The competency exam will determine if Kocken understands the court proceedings and can assist in her own defense.
In addition, a cash bond of $750,000 was set Monday. Kocken returns to court Oct. 14, according to court records.
The defense has also informed the court it plans to enter a plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, court records show. That plea would come at a later hearing, however.
Kocken had been committed to a mental health facility for up to six months, but she has since been released from that, and was returned to the custody of the jail.
Kocken was charged after an incident where police were called to an Oconto Falls home. There was a physical confrontation between Kocken and Officer Blaskowski. At one point, Kocken allegedly grabbed Blaskowski’s gun and shot the officer in the head. She has since been released from the hospital.
