As of Monday, Wisconsin Hospital Association says there are currently 1,056 COVID-19 patients.
“What we’ve seen in the community is an increase in testing and in positive cases,” said Mark Theil, ThedaCare vice president for primary care.
Thiel says the hospital is busy with COVID-19 testing.
To keep up with demand, ThedaCare set up mobile testing sites around the Fox Valley through September.
The first stop was Monday in Menasha.
“We can actually go where the pockets of cases were and we can increase the level of capacity within those pockets,” said Thiel.
Theil says COVID isn’t just spreading close to the clinic’s scheduled spots.
“To be honest I think all of our communities are really seeing an uptick,” said Thiel.
You need to schedule an appointment with ThedaCare to get a COVID-19 test.
ThedaCare is allocated 350 rapid tests and 350 PCR tests daily, for each location.
“Last week we had several days where we tested over 1,000 people a day,” said Dr. Brad Burmeister, emergency physician at Bellin Health.
Burmeister says the hospital has adequate testing supply for the amount of people coming in.
FOX 11 asked, “is school starting correlated with the increase in testing?”
“Absolutely we are seeing an increase in kids who are infected with COVID-19 and are seeking tests,” replied Burmeister.
Burmeister says many workplaces and travel destinations require tests too.
Theil says he encourages people to keep up the testing, especially if you have symptoms.
“Serves as a scout to know what we should be able to expect and allows us to prepare our systems for potential increases in hepatizations,” said Thiel.
Dr. Brad Burmeister says COVID-19 hospitalizations at Bellin Health have been high and steady the last few weeks.
