OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A charge of attempted first-degree intentional homicide was filed Monday against 24-year-old Cody Krueger for allegedly shooting another man.
Krueger also faces armed robbery and endangering safety counts. An initial court hearing is planned for Monday afternoon.
According to the criminal complaint, Nicholas Staidl was shot shortly after the postal service delivered a package on Sept. 3 to a residence on Superior Avenue.
Oconto police said the shooting was about the package, which contained narcotics. The criminal complaint, however, makes no mention of narcotics. In the complaint, Staidl says issues about a woman may have led to the shooting.
Police found Krueger following a call regarding a reckless driver in the Town of Lena on Friday afternoon. When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver led them on a pursuit before taking off into the woods on foot in the Town of Pound.
Police were able to identify Krueger as the driver, and served a search warrant on a Lena home after tips suggested he may be hiding there. Two other people were arrested on probation and drug-related charges.
Krueger was located around 7:15am on Saturday, September 11th on White Lake Road hiding in the woods and was placed in custody.
