APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Northeast Wisconsin veterans will once again travel to Washington, D.C. on honor flights.
Old Glory Honor Flight says operations are ready to resume after an 18-month hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are thrilled to restart our operations after a long pause and are excited to get back to our mission of flying our heroes to DC to see their memorials,” Old Glory Honor Flight Executive Director Diane MacDonald said in a news release. “I think it will be an emotional journey for all involved.”
The first flight to take place following the pause will be Tuesday. Ninety-nine veterans from the Korean and Vietnam wars will travel from Appleton International Airport to the nation’s capital to see the memorials built in their honor.
A welcome home celebration is open to everyone beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the airport. Those attending are required to wear face masks indoors.
