GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Greater Green Bay YMCA opened a nearly 100-year-old time capsule Saturday afternoon.
The capsule was embedded into the downtown YMCA building when it was built in 1924.
Among the items inside the capsule were a bible, an American flag, and newspapers.
The Y opened it as part of its 150-year anniversary celebration.
“I thought some of it was some of the coolest stuff I’ve ever seen,” said Sean Elliott, the President and CEO of the Greater Green Bay YMCA.
“I’m a history buff as it is, so some of the history from archives, from the articles of incorporation and the by-laws, they were pretty special to see.”
Saturday’s event also included a race of Green Bay area mascots, food trucks, bounce houses, and live music.
