FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Residents of a senior living facility have returned home after a destructive fire more than a year ago.
Most repairs at Oakridge Gardens Rehabilitation and Memory Center in Fox Crossing are complete after a fire caused significant damage on June 18, 2020.
All 52 residents were safely evacuated from the building and relocated to nearby care facilities. No one was hurt in the fire.
Three of the center’s units for occupancy are open while its Rehab West Wing is expected to be ready in November.
“We have been working towards the goal of getting back in our facility every day since last June,” said Michael T. Schanke, NHA, president of Oakridge Gardens Rehabilitation & Memory Care Center. “We appreciate everyone who has helped us along the way of our recovery and rebuilding so that we can get back to what we have been called to do for over 50 years – serving the Fox Valley.”
Oakridge Gardens is now accepting new patients and skilled health care professionals to its team.
