GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Bay Area School District’s superintendent says new guidance around quarantines are a ‘game changer’.
Superintendent Stephen Murley says CDC guidance saying fully masked, asymptomatic children don’t need to quarantine if exposed to COVID-19 will keep kids in the classroom.
“The most important thing we can do is get our kids into schools on September 1st and keep them through the school year,” Murley said during a Tuesday appearance on Fox 11’s Good Morning Wisconsin. “Kids through age 11 can’t get vaccinated, but if those students are masked…[this] means we keep them in the classroom.”
A Green Bay school district committee met last night to discuss plans in place for the fall. As it stands, masks are option for older students, while those in contact with or in grades K through 6 will be required to wear them.
Murley says COVID-19 testing will be available in all schools. They will require parent permission. The test results will be available within 24 hours.
