FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A road rage incident in Fond du Lac Saturday night led to a shooting.
Fond du Lac county dispatch received a call from a semi-truck driver stating that a suburban style vehicle had just shot at his trailer while traveling on westbound Hwy 23 in the township of Rosendale.
The caller indicated the suspect vehicle continued westbound on Hwy 23 toward Ripon.
City of Ripon Police officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle and conducted a high risk traffic stop and took the 56-year-old Illinois driver into custody.
Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office arrived and took over the investigation.
The suspect admitted to a road rage incident between himself and the semi-driver which resulted in the the suspect firing a pistol from his vehicle toward the semi-trailer.
Sheriff deputies located the semi-trailer and found 3 bullet holes from the incident which also damaged property inside the trailer.
Deputes also retrieved bullet fragments from the trailer and found 4 spent shell casings.
The suspect was booked into the Fond Du Lac County jail and is being held on multiple charges of recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon.
