GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Metro Fire responded to a house fire in the 900 block of Greenwood Avenue Sunday afternoon.
Crews report that when they arrived around 3:50 p.m., smoke and flames were coming from the front porch of the two-unit home.
The first engine was able to quickly knock down the fire on the outside as crews entered the first floor and found the walls and ceiling on fire. The second floor unit did not catch fire.
Green Bay Fire credits bystanders for alerting the occupants of the fire and helping them evacuate both units.
The fire is under investigation by the Green Bay Fire Marshal Office.
The two families are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
