GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An airline is growing and it wants to do so in the Fox Valley.
Allegiant Air says it plans to establish an aircraft and crew base at Appleton International Airport.
The $50 million investment will locate two Airbus A320 aircraft in Appleton, bringing at least 66 new, high-wage jobs to the community.
“That’ll be flight crews, maintenance technicians, other operational and stationed support staff,” said Allegiant Air Airport Affairs Director, Thayne Klingler. “Those folks will live here and return home every night, because our model is that out-and-back model. We don’t have that hub-and-spoke service like the legacy airlines.”
It will also increase options for travelers.
“More cities, certainly more frequencies on the existing cities, and frankly, better schedules as well,” Klingler said.
He says that means morning flights to the bigger leisure destinations are likely to be added as well.
The airport and airline made the announcement Tuesday.
The Las Vegas-based carrier will begin base operations at Appleton International Airport on March 2, 2022.
