ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) — Packers training camp started Wednesday and all the discussion among fans in the stands centered around Aaron Rodgers and his decision to stay with the Packers for at least another season.
Most fans at Ray Nitschke Field were relieved at Rodgers’ choice.
“When he showed up… I was relieved,” said Mike Smith, who drove in from Aurora, Illinois. “I’m ready to watch them win a Super Bowl.”
Some fans, like Sherry and Liz from Prairie Du Chein, weren’t surprised.
“I knew he was going to stay,” said Sherry.
“Yeah, I knew he was going to stay,” Liz laughed. “I like him.”
It wasn’t all a love-fest. Todd comes up every year from Scottsdale, Arizona to see training camp, and he doesn’t think Rodgers is long for the team.
“I know they’re not going to let him go to like, Minnesota or anything like that,” he told WTAQ. “But don’t be surprised if him and [Davante] Adams, both of them go to like us like the Saints or something.”
Rodgers said during his first press conference this season that he had disagreements with the team’s front office, wanted to be more involved in the team’s direction, and didn’t feel “respected”.
