BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) – A stretch of road work along Allouez Avenue was wrapped up this week, reopening the street to traffic in both directions.
It was a project that caused headaches for some drivers who had to find other, longer ways around. But Brown County Public Works Director Paul Fontecchio says it actually went really, really well.
“The project was very successful. We were ahead of schedule by about three weeks, under budget by quite a bit because we didn’t have to do a lot of sub-soil work,” Fontecchio told WTAQ News.
For the rest of the season, crews will be working on the wayside near Morrison and County Highway W resurfacing. That should be finished by mid-September. Another project is the County Highway VV construction in the Wrightstown area.
“It’s actually going to be a pretty neat destination when we’re done with it. It’s going to have a 14-15 foot almost boardwalk along there in downtown Wrightstown, where people will be right up against the river,” Fontecchio said. “VV will be mostly done this fall. We’re going to keep the surface layer of asphalt off and we’ll let it settle out. We’ll hit it with that surface layer of asphalt next year in 2022.”
Plans for next year include work on Bellevue Street between Allouez Avenue and the railroad tracks.
