GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The wearing of face masks at Diocese of Green Bay Catholic schools will be at the discretion of the school or parent, superintendent Todd Blahnik announced Tuesday.
The announcement comes as school districts set mask guidelines for the 2021-22 academic year.
“With 54 schools from Antigo to Oshkosh, it is impossible for us to create one set of standards that all schools must follow,” Blahnik said in a news release. “We know data can change from county to county, and we are relying on the good judgement of our administrators and parents when it comes to providing a safe environment for staff and students.”
In May, the Diocese of Green Bay released guidelines for the upcoming year. They include offering in-person learning at all 54 schools.
All schools are asked to follow minimum requirements from the CDC. Schools are also required to follow all local, county, state, and federal ordinances should any be issued.
