APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Mead Pool on Appleton’s east side will be open today after a lifeguard training issue caused it to be closed all weekend.
City officials announced Friday that training for some lifeguards was not completed, so the city closed Mead Pool. Erb Pool on the city’s north side remained open.
On Friday, the city said the American Red Cross cited “incomplete delivery of course materials” as the reason for the training shortfall.
The city said lifeguards spent the weekend completing training.
Mead and Erb are the only two outdoor public swimming pools in Appleton.
