MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The air quality in some parts of Northeast Wisconsin has reached unhealthy levels, the DNR reports.
The air quality index for the following lakeshore counties was placed in the red category Friday: Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee and Racine.
This means active children and adults, and individuals with respiratory and cardiac problems, should avoid prolonged outdoor exertion; everyone else, especially children, should limit prolonged, strenuous outdoor activities.
Meanwhile the following counties were placed in the orange category: Brown, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Oconto, Marinette, Walworth, Waukesha and Washington.
The orange category means the air quality index has reached the unhealthy for sensitive groups level. Sensitive groups, including children, elderly people, individuals with respiratory and cardiac problems.
The advisories are set to end Saturday at midnight.
