MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – A man who police say was acting erratic was arrested following a standoff in Manitowoc.
Officers were called around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home around S. 14th Street and Division Street for a report of someone threatening to kill family members. Witnesses said a 43-year-old Manitowoc man was under the influence of drugs and stabbing numerous items in the house.
Upon arrival, officers found the man acting erratic, talking to himself and damaging property with a knife. Due to the threat to the public, a SWAT team was called to the scene.
After several hours of attempted negotiations, the man refused to talk to authorities, periodically yelling threats toward officers, brandishing knives and going into the house, where he would appear to take more drugs, police say.
