This summer has been hot and dry, besides the last couple of days. With that, farms located in Racine, Walworth, and Kenosha counties are eligible to apply for an emergency credit after this year’s drought.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the three counties have been designated as a natural disaster by the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA). This designation was put into place to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers who were impacted by the disasters from emergency loans.
Farmers who were impacted by this drought can apply for the emergency loan to meet the needs to recover. This includes being able to replace or fix any essential equipment or livestock. The applications are due by February 22nd, 2022.
Farms that are located in Jefferson, Milwaukee, Rock, and Waukesha County are also eligible for this
emergency loan.
The U.S. Drought Monitor named these counties that suffered from the lack of rain, especially during the growing season.
