MADISON, Wis. – Ten current or former athletes from the Wisconsin men’s and women’s track and field teams are competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials beginning today at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
NBC and NBCSN will provide coverage over eight nights, including six in primetime on NBC. Coverage begins today 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN with qualifying and continues at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. Live coverage concludes on June 27, at 7 p.m. ET on NBC.
Current athletes are Destiny Huven (100-meter hurdles), Alissa Niggemann (steeplechase), Josie Schaefer (shot put and discus), and Bianca Stubler (400-meter hurdles).
Former athletes include 2016 Olympians Kelsey Card in the discus and Zach Ziemek in the decathlon. Other former athletes who qualified include Gwen Jorgensen, who won a gold medal in the triathlon in 2016, in the 5000 and 10,000 meters; Brenna Detra in the 800 meters; and Amy Davis and Alicia Monson in the 10,000 meters.
The top-three finishers in each event, provided they have met the Olympic qualifying standard, will compete in the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo from July 23 – Aug. 8.
