NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) — The nearly 300 employees set to lose their jobs when the Clearwater Paper Company plant in Neenah closes next month will have help available.
Fox Valley Workforce Development Board’s Bobbi Miller says it’s been a tough week for those employees after learning of the plant’s imminent closure.
“I would say that most [of the workers] are feeling, still, a bit of shock and sadness,” Miller said. “They’ll be needing some guidance.”
Miller says they’re working with the company and the union to help employees by holding a job fair and assisting with interview prep and retraining.
“That could include things like job search assistance,” said Miller. “It could include retraining opportunities that they might be interested in. Resume assistance. Interview prep.”
Miller says they’ll be holding meetings to explain the options available to current employees. She adds that the job market they’ll be entering is a good one with plenty of options.
