BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A popular Wisconsin tradition celebrated throughout the month of June is back.
COVID-19 canceled Brown County’s Breakfast on the Farm last year.
But with restrictions easing, the event is once again showcasing what area dairy producers have to offer.
At Collins Dairy southeast of Greenleaf, co-owner Kevin Collins tells FOX 11 the traffic jam early Sunday is a welcome sight.
“The turnout. I’m just impressed. I mean it was 7:30 this morning and we had a line already.”
Collins Dairy is the 2021 Brown County Breakfast on the Farm host.
“Last year, we had all the plans to do it, and COVID kicked in, and so we said we’d do it this year.”
Collins says planning started three months ago.
“We didn’t know what the regulations were going to be, so we just decided to accommodate, wanted to accommodate everybody, and our purpose is that everybody has a chance to see the cows.”

“Good morning and welcome,” said Brittany VanderKinter, Co-Owner Collins Dairy.
“You need to please stay in your vehicle. No honking the horn, and drive three miles per hour through each barn. This is for your safety and the fellow drivers around you. And to keep our cattle happy and calm through your tour.”
After the barn trip, volunteers prepared brunch.
“To make it a drive through, instead of traditional scrambled eggs, and all that, so we have cheese, or ham and cheese sandwiches,” said Collins.
James Grasee is one of those volunteers.
“It’s just a great way to give back to the community. People who don’t really know where the farming comes from, so they come out and see the farm, see the animals and have a nice breakfast.”
White tents and picnic tables were set up on the field nearby. The Mercado family is here from Denmark.
“It’s really nice. It’s really nice. I like the grilled cheese. It’s really good,” said Adriana Mercado.
“It just kind of gets us out in the community again. It’s a good feeling,” said Gerardo Mercado.
And after the meal, there were complimentary cheese curds, and of course ice cream too. Kevin Collins calls the 2021 Breakfast on the Farm a success.
“I think it’s just a nice way to get out, and get some good family time,” he said.
Collins says they served about 3,700 sandwiches Sunday morning.
